Known Issues and Troubleshooting tips

Automatic flash installer detection does not work properly on Firefox / Mac versions 2.0.0.7 through 2.0.0.12. Updating the browser to 2.0.0.13 fixes the issue. Click here to update. We are investigating fixes on our end.

If you have attempted to uninstall flash plug-in in the past without running appropriate uninstaller, the plug-in may not operate properly. To fix this issue, run the uninstaller again to completely remove all components, and then click here to install flash again.

There has been sporadic incidents reported of Flash Player 9.0.115 dying mysteriously on its own. When this happens you will not see Flash elements instantiated across our site as well as any site on the internet with Flash content. To solve this problem, you have to click here to re-install Flash again. It is wise to also run the uninstaller per above to ensure the new build is clean. As far as we know this is an issue on Adobe's end - the provider of the plug-in.

The page will detail specific Flash Player version you have in addition to a few other useful information. If you are having trouble seeing our content, please cut-and-paste the result from that tester page and let us know. Be sure to include the operating system and browser you are using.

Page layout are optimized for FireFox and Internet Explorers on PC / Safari and Firefox on Macs. There are a few issues here and there but should not be critical to enjoying Gameday content.

Our content operates best at broadband connection speed on computers that are, from general consumer specifications, not older than 3 years. However, we have tested on pretty old machines and they do load and chug along, albeit not optimally.

All I am seeing is a white screen. I've installed the new version of abobe and double-checked it on the website. On the test page I got these results (I've typed them out as it won't copy and paste!).

Player Version: WIN 9,0,115,0
Debug Player: No
Operating system: Windows XP
Video Encoder: True
Audio capable: No
Local File I/O Disabled: False

What else can I try?

I know the switch to silverlight will prevent me, a Linux user, from seeing video. However, up until today (07 Season and 08 Spring Training) I'd had no trouble listening to Gameday audio. However, today Gameday audio doesn't work on either of my Linux computers. Did something change today to lock out us Linux users? I know Linux is not officially supported, but any assistance would be appreciated.

Mike -- supposedly Miguel de Icaza is working on a Silverlight port, which may or may not get going some time soon. IIRC he had originally slated December 2007 as the completion date, but it looks like he'll be a while longer judging by the subsequent Sep. 5 notice of Linux support out of Microsoft.

EVERYTHING is taking a ridiculous amount of time to load; dodgers.mlb.com won't load, and the Angels home page (angels.mlb.com) is very slow, taking minutes to complete loading. I've been using Linux for at least three years and this is the absolute worst I've ever seen it. It seems every year something breaks, but this has all of those beat by far.

If I can get anything working, you will find it here:

Additional posts can be found by following the "tech" link.

I just want to give some feedback: About 1/4 times I try to go to a game on gameday the thing doesn't load. And it has crashed my firefox twice this afternoon.

Couple suggestions on the new interface:
1. Have the most recent batter on top in the play by play. this would allow you to have the most relavant information in the center of the screen and the less relavant information towards the outside of the screen.

2. Have an section/link for the in-game video highlights in case you miss the pop up for one.

3. Change the color of the pitch lines, the grey is real hard to see against the blue background.

4. Make the live pitch graphic smaller (lots of wasted space there) and make the play by play window bigger. At least for me this is where I spend the most amount of time looking and it only gets a fraction of the screen space.

5. Bring back the pitcher's view.

6. Bring back the strike zone box.

If you work out all those kinks... it's still kinda mediocre, but better than what else is out there. Can't wait for the Gameday mini verson.

The current size of Gameday is much too large. I can't fit the whole thing on my 1280x1024 screen, not even fullscreened. That's unreasonable to ask of anyone anyway (especially if you're trying to follow along at work). There needs to be a smaller option.

It would be nice if you guys would give us the option of using the old MediaPlayer. There seems to be a provision for that in the code but it's not active.

Seriously, if you don't fix some of these things (or at least publish a schedule under which this will get done this year) I'm cancelling my Gameday Audio and MLB.TV subscriptions. My desktops at home and at work are Linux and Mac, and treating both as though they were afterthoughts really makes me mad.

We have a "Gameday Mini" mode planned for release soon that will address the larger footprint.

There are more updates to the "Pitch Map" area underway. However, the strike zone drama has yet to unfold. We would like to see it back too, but this decision is out of our control. (feel free to discuss away - we just can't make official comments)

We are also creating a "Video" tab for easy-access to Video Alerts as well. More on that in a few weeks.

Earlier this afternoon our sites experience some technical problems that may have caused Gameday (as well as other parts of MLB.com and Club.com site) to not function properly. The issue spanned the timeframe of around 3:00pm - 5:00pm. It should now be resolved. We apologize.

I'm running Mac 10.4.11 (Tiger) and Gameday won't load on Safari or Firefox, but loads and performs poorly on Camino. I have the most current version of Flash player installed. What's wrong here?

sgmorr - do you have Safari 3.0 or 3.1? we've tested on those with tiger and they are fine. (I personally have the same set up at home). Gameday does not run on Safari 2.0. Firefox 2.0.0.13 gives us the least problems, but earlier versions of Firefox have been sporadic and will on some instances display white screen in Live mode. We are still fixing that issue. If you are seeing white screen in "Live" mode but can see the other two tabs, try updating the browser for now.

Gameday, the FAQ says that the non-silverlight edition can be used if desired, but I have not been able to find a link to that version. Can you tell me (rather us, all Linux users) where that is?

mike - which FAQ are you referring to? In Gameday, you can watch Video Alert without Silverlight. If you don't have Silverlight installed, you will be prompted for installation. At that point, an alternative (windows media player) option is presented. Selecting that will get you to video without Silverlight.

In the main Media Player (MLB.TV) you should have an option to do the same in the installation flow (the orange arrow). I believe there is (or will be) some cookie that remembers your decision, but I'm not certain if that feature has rolled out.

Gameday, Sorry I didn't include the link: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/help/faq_subscriptions.jsp#q5

I tried from a friend's Windows computer to access MLB audio wth my account, but didn't get a link to use old Windows Media Player. It just didn't play. We installed Silverlight and then it worked. But still no place to designate an option to use WMP.

I can't get it to work on Linux, using Firefox and Flash.

I've also tried Vista (I dual boot), both Firefox and IE, both before and after installing Silverlight. Nothing works!! I get a popup window alright, but there's a large blank area taking up most of the middle-left, where I assume the content should go. Nothing happens.

Please help me run gameday audio! This is driving me nuts.

I can't get Gameday to load. I've tried on IE7, Safari, and Firefox 2.0.0.13. I have the latest Flash and Java players. Whenever I click on the little green baseball field, TV Screen, blue chat box, or audio link, nothing happens. The only thing I see is at the bottom of my screen on my status bar on my browser, for a split second it says "Waiting for mlbglobal08.112.2o7.net..." That only lasts for a second, and then it just says "Done." The same thing happens when I try to click the Gameday link in the main part of the home page. Whenever I hover over the link, it says something like "javascript:launchGameday({gid:'2008_04_01_tormlb_nyamlb_1',mode:'gameday'})" But once again, whenever I click on it, nothing happens. I have no pop up blocker on. Any help?

HELP!! I cannot get Gameday to download. I'm using Windows XP Media Center and Internet Explorer 7.
I've been using this for a few years, but now it is "improved". IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!

I too am having a problem getting Gameday to work. I have the latest version of Firefox and un- and re-installed the flash player for Intel Macs.

jcaponio - have you tried clicking on the "Gameday" link from the scoreboard page? http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/scoreboard/ or visit http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday and click on the green field icon from the grid displayed. do those work for you? bug has been reported in some areas of the site and a fix should be out tomorrow for a few known dead links.

markbadger - do you see the page loading and the tabs display? there are two distinct symptoms overall for those who cannot view gameday (1) tab loads and content in pre and post game loads but gameday (center tab) does not. you tend to see white page; and (2) page does not load at all (in which case describe what it's doing.. crash browser? stalls?) we will look into media center set up to try to replicate the issue.

Same problem. From the scoreboard page, whenever I click on the gameday link, nothing happens. When I hover over the link, it says "javascript:void(0)". When I go to http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday there is no grid displayed. I get a few paragraphs of text starting with:

"From pre-game stats and scouting reports all the way through to post-game wrapups and highlights, Gameday on MLB.com is the premiere destination for following live baseball on the Internet."

The paragraphs are followed by system requirements and a link to this blog.

I was actually looking around the Orioles site for tickets, and noticed that I can't even get that to work. When I go to the team schedule at http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=bal, I try to click on the green T and nothing happens. The link says: javascript:void(openNonTIXXWindow('http://www.ticketmaster.com/cgi/outsider.plx?CAMEFROM=MLBORIOLES-SCHEDULE&GOTO=http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/15004024C9447330/&brand=none', 'home'));

Looks like the same problem to my non-trained eye. Could this be a java problem? Doesn't make any sense because it's only on MLB sites that I have these problems.

Does not work AT ALL on
1) Windows Firefox 2.0.0.13
2) Windows IE 7
3) Mac Firefox 2.0.0.13
4) Mac Safari

No audio. No TV. Worked in spring training. Just a blank blue window frame. Doesn't even ask for a login.******* more than anything else has ever ******.

I want to add my vote for can't wait for "gameday mini." The current version is just way, way too big. And the information you need to see the current game status is all over the place. Score and inning above the big box with the pitcher, but ball and strike and outs below the box. Current runners on base even farther down on the left.
The key elements, score, inning, number of outs and how many runners on base should all be groupd together so you can see them at a glance. Then should be ball/strike who is up.

For those who say it doesn't work on IE7, clearly it does for many of us. There are all sorts of reasons things might not work in individual cases, especially at work where companies are known to block certain internet traffic.

I also cannot get gameday to load in either firefox or internet explorer. I've downloaded and installed the flash player and silverlight .exe files. Have tried loading it from numerous spots without success. Any tips or other options?

The tabs load but I get the white screen on the center tab. I also cannot get my audio subscription to work

So far my Mlb.tv has yet to work for a live feed. It has worked twice for an archived game at the San Diego Padres website but at none of the other ones. When I try to watch a live game in Internet Explorer, it simply doesn't work. The popup comes, but it does not prompt me to log in.

When I try to log in using Firefox, it tells me that I'm not authorized to view 800k streams because I have the basic Mlb.tv service. When I select the 400k stream, it still tells me that I'm trying to access the 800k and that I'm not authorized. Why is this happening and why has it not been fixed three days after the problem showed up. I was able to watch games during Spring Training, so why am I not able to watch them now?

Hello,

I am seeing another issue. When I am viewing GameDay and I try to view a score on the panel above, it opens up a new window. This is pretty frustrating. The previous version of Gameday was pretty smooth and used to run on a smaller pop up as well.

Thanks
Sundar

Hi there,

A few small issues. For one, the main video player has refused to work for me on a fully updated firefox lately, but that could be unrelated. Second, a few layout complaints that everybody else has already commented on, looking forward to mini. Finally, is there a way to open multiple gameday tabs? It is really frustrating that "wraps" are now in gameday because whenever I try to open a tab, it loads over my current gameday game.

I'm having a problem with Gameday actually updating. It works, I see everything (so I wouldn't think it's a Flash issue), but the real-time updates are sporadic at best. I'm pretty sure the same game is working for other people, so I don't know what the problem is.

Sometimes it will go through all pitches of an at bat at once. Sometimes it will get stuck a half inning behind where the game is actually at. Other times it will randomly skip batters (e.g., it will show the 2nd batter in the top of an inning, and then jump straight to the bottom of the inning without filling in the missing info).

How do we correct the white page issue that a lot of others are having?? This is getting very frustrating. I have downloaded the new flash software but get nothing but a white page with tabs at the top. Please, please help!

Wow, lots of issues to work on, this one is minor. Things work great for me (except the before mentioned fact that it is all too big.)

But what are Alerts supposed to do? I can click the little "+" sign and turn it on and off. But it doesn't seem to do anything. I had assumed if I had turned it on for a game and I'm looking at some other game I would get an alert about what happened in that other game.

Can you explain how it is supposed to work?

I have not been able to see a single highlight yet...all I get in an indication the the media player is "connecting to media," then indicates "Ready" yet does not play a damn thing.

I am unable to access "Gameday". The preview tab comes up okay; The "Live" tab is accessable but is all white; The "Box" tab is grey and not able to even be clicked on. I purchased MLB.tv last year but have not renewed as the "Gameday" problem has not been resolved. I have sent an email to mlb.com but did not receive a reply. Any hep on this matter would be appreciated.

Gameday is, for the most part, fine. The application, though, is too large, I don't like scrolling around on the screen to get what I want to see. Also, the application seems to be working very slowly, it only shows about two pitches per batter than stops, and I have to wait for the next batter or even the next in real time to find out what the first batter did.

I have done everything that you mentioned in the post. I have the correct version of Firefox, I've installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled the newest Flash 9 four times. I still cannot see Gameday.

What next?

I'm having a problem with Gameday actually updating. It works, I see everything (so I wouldn't think it's a Flash issue), but the real-time updates are sporadic at best. I'm pretty sure the same game is working for other people, so I don't know what the problem is.

Same, can someone respond to this issue?

If you can't get gameday to load, or don't like the new format, you should check out CBS Sportsline Gamecenter. It's not as good as last year's MLB Gameday, but it beats the frustration of trying to deal with the new "improved" version.

I too get nothing but tabs with white space under the Live tab. The Peview tab works, and the Box tab is grayed out. Like the others, I've uninstalled and installed Flash, turned popup blockers off, and done a few other things suggested in the troubleshooting link. I have IE 7. In looking at the complaints above, there's not much help from Gameday. What's going on? I don't have problems with any other website.

Whenever I go to a game and click on audio, then select the station I want to listen to, I get nothing but "error on page"...i have tried on two different computers, same message. Any suggestions from anyone??

I love the new video feature, such a good idea. One suggestion though: I like to watch gameday at work and I really miss the old option to watch a "mini gameday". It's difficult for me to have the whole thing maximized while I'm working. It was so convenient to have the mini version in the corner. How hard would it be to bring this back? Also, when games are in the warmup phase (once the lineups have been posted) it would still be nice to have a start time appear in gameday or on the main website. Sometimes it says top of 1st but the game starts in an hour and no actual start time is posted anywhere. Overall great job though!

Greart improvements over 2007 Gameday, with just this thought--when games are being played in a domed stadium with a retractable roof, e.g. Miller Park in Milwaukee, please indicate whether dome/roof is open or closed.

When I click on the + on a game on the scoreboard it says "subscribe to game alert" but nothing seems to happen. Has anyone figured this out?

Here is a known issue for you to troubleshoot:

You have alienated all of your Linux users.

By Adobe's own admission, Express Install does not work on Flash for Linux, and judging by the historically crippled condition of Flash for Linux, they have zero plans to make it work.

It would be really nice for us to, as a minimum, have an easier way to use Gameday 2007 than Googling it, sifting through the top results, and then manipulating old Gameday URLs.

We have not been able to make GameDay work ... I have finally sent the below letter to disenroll ,,, and it describes the problems we've been having:

Dear Sirs:
I have requested a refund for my audio subscription via your 866 number (after multiple calls and hours on the line with your tech support) .I meet all system requirements but have been unable to get it to run since opening day. (See tracking #'s 3719989/3720051/3652746/and3652516.)

The system requirements at the time I subscribed on March 12, 2008 were changed by MLB by the time of opening day arrived (as well as the media player options). As a result we have been unable to use Gameday since those changes. I feel that is a fraudulent practice, i.e., to sell a subscription with one set of requirements and media player options and then change it a few weeks later, making it un-operational for us (even though it would seem to us and your tech support staff we should be able to run it with the new requirements /media player on our secondary computer – see below)

Background info:

I subscribed to Gameday audio on March 12, 2008. Our main computer at home is an older PowerPC Mac (running OS X10.2.8) Our internet connection is cable.

At the time of the subscription we met the system requirements for Gameday audio to run on our Mac (using the older media player given as an option on the site) and in fact were able to listen to a couple of spring training games.

However, by the time opening day arrived we discovered MLB had changed the site and the media player options and we could no longer run it on the Mac as it required using Silverlight Media Player, which requires a higher Mac operating system than we have.

However I also have a Dell PC laptop with Widows XP / Explorer 7.0 so thought we could access it through that computer ….as it met all the new system requirements. We downloaded Silverlight and Gameday still doesn’t run. We can only get as far as logging in and then get a MLB window indicating they are “doing maintenance on the site …blah..blah… and apologize for the inconvenience”

We have had multiple lengthy calls with your tech support line all to no avail in getting it to run. We have checked everything they could think of (e.g. pop up windows are enabled, not going in through “favorites’, trying Silverlight beta, etc.)

I have since viewed numerous blogs on the internet that would indicate this type of problem is fairly pervasive.

Summary

Please consider this letter formal disenrollement from Gameday Audio subscription and please confirm a refund to our credit card. I tried E-mailing MLB though the “contact us” spot on the web site but have had no response.

Amba Coltman

Though Gameday has many interesting features, it is becoming more complex than it needs to be which creates a visually confusing and functionally inconvenient interface. With multiple scrolls. The tabbed options on last years version were much easier to use. In this case my eyes have to travel all over the screen to gain a perspective upon the status of the game. Whomever is responsible for the interface design did a poor job at assessing and addressing its usability. Like I said, the features are good, but at some point - when they affect usability due to poor design - they become obstacles to using the interface.

I am getting only a white screen. What can I do?

Another one who has a white screen and has reinstalled flash etc.

All I can get is the white screen as noted by several others above. I've tried the reinstall to no avail. Perhaps a note as to what is being done, if anything, to resolve these issues.

So I've working on a greasemonkey script that helps gameday audio work in linux & firefox. You can get it at userscripts.org by searching for mlb.com on linux. When you start up the gameday audio page, it finds the audio stream and opens it in a new window (you might need to give adblock permissions for this). If you have a plugin that can handle the stream, the game will simply start playing.

I only seem to be getting updated 2 or 3 times per half inning. When I do get updated, I get multiple pitches and at-bats. I'm sitting watching my screen because we've got a guy in scoring position, and first of all I have to wait an interminably long time for the update, and when it comes, they're already out of the inning! Please let me know if there's anything I can do to fix this!

after reading the latest bloggs i see i am not alone in my misery of only seeing WHITE when i click on the live tab on gameday is there anybody out there that can help re-installed flash updated ram still seeing white please help.

Add me to the list. Nothing but white screen; does not matter how I access Gameday, I can only view "preview" tab, not live or box tabs. I run I.E. 7.0, Windows XP. Are you guys really working to try to fix this?

Fix for "white screen" should be rolling out tomorow (tuesday). We hope this addresses most of the white screen issues reported. For those who see the white screen (myself included, go figure), please visit Gameday in the afternoon timeframe. If problems persist through the end of the week, please let us know your specific browser / operating system configuration.

It would be nice since there is plenty of space on both sides of the screen to bring the old prtion of the first page that shows the Teams and scores next to Gameday. This would stop one from having to constantly navigate beween the Home Page ad the Gameday screen.

Not sure if anyone has suggested this or not - but is there a possibility you could add a delay dropdown to the gameday interface that would let you select some delay amount (1s, 2s,3s,5s,6s,7s,8s,9s,10s ) ?

The reason I ask is because I listen to games on audio and I would like to have gameday on at the same time EXCEPT that gameday ends up being ahead of the audio by 5 - 10 seconds.

Thanks,
Tad

I am also having a problem with the white screen. I get the tabs but no gameday. I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled silverlight but still can't get anything. This is very frustrating. I could always watch gameday until this "improvement". Please help!!!

Hello, what i want to say is this, on the scoreboard i wish you would put how many outs there are because when i am watching the white sox i want to see how many outs the twins, royals, tigers or indians have. Great job so far on gameday.

What did you honestly want to accomplish by making this so big? You had to know nobody would like it. It's terrible. And it's harder to read, everything is white so it's harder to see the different segments of gameday. The info is all over the place, with the pitchers at the top left, the pitch-by-pitch at the bottom and the balls and strikes in an odd place.

I have to scroll up to see the pitcher, then scroll down to see the pitch. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? It's terrible. Just awful. And if I remember correctly, the last gameday "mini" was a little tiny thing with very minimal information that took up little room on the desktop. If that's what you are talking about you are working on, don't. I don't, and most other people don't want that. They want all the info they had before in the pop-up window you had LAST YEAR. That was PERFECT and you changed it? WHY?
One more thing, you got rid of the links at the top right under the line score that automatically went to the two lineups and the pitchers. There's ANOTHER completely UNNECESSARY hassle, having to scroll up and down to see the lineups as well as the entire gameday screen. It's just ridiculous.
OK, that's the end of my rant. Now please fix gameday.

My biggest issue with any of the new features is simply that the autoload videos on the teams' websites, as well as the video highlights that get posted on the post-game wraps (though not the videos that are shown in pop-up windows, nor the in-game highlights) only have white noise for audio. I'm on a Mac most of the time, and this is where I have the issue. I had a friend check with his windows computer, and he heard the audio fine.

Since I signed two weeks ago, this is what I get everytime I attempt to listen to a game or an archive:

"We are currently performing maintenance operations. During this time, sections of the site will not be available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

Is Gameday Audio really having trouble or is it my computer?

Since I signed up to Gameday Audio two weeks ago, this is what I get every time I try to get a game:

"We are currently performing maintenance operations.
During this time, sections of the site will not be available.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

Has the system been shut down that long? Or is it my computer?

See my note re same issue with Gameday audio ....(April 5th 5:02PM) ..... and you see similar reports on the web on a variety of other blogs ... so apparently it's the mlb product ... not working for many subscribers ...... and appparently they're not interested in addressing it ....

I still have the white screen, it says loading gameday, I have followed all the directions with the install and uninstall process, I have Mozialla Firefox, PLEASE FIX THIS

Gameday problems are still persisting. Still have the white screen despite doing everything you've asked. Since we are well beyond Tuesday afternoon, can you provide an update on when a possible fix may be available?

I've given up on seeing Gameday for 2008.

Gameday wrote, "For those who see the white screen (myself included, go figure), please visit Gameday in the afternoon timeframe."

What good would that do for a night game--even if Gameday would somehow work then--which it doesn't?

Using IE 6 on Windows XP.

Thanks for making this available.

The Busch Stadium used in the Gameday is wrong. It's the old Busch Stadium layout.

This also seems to be the case on the hitting charts you can access from the MLB player pages. If you go to Pujols' page and select the Hit Chart and choose Busch Stadium, it say no information is available. I even tried choosing last season.

I tried to send an email through the from, but it said the service was unavailable after I clicked "Submit."

How come when I try to listen to gameday audio, it just says 'loading' and doesn't go anywhere?

I see you moved: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/y2007/index.jsp?gid=

Can we just have an option to use classic? Coke learned this lesson the hard way too...

If you're trying to squeeze us into buying MLBtv or whatever, just know that you can't squeeze blood from a turnip, but with enough sugar you can sweeten the appeal.

Poor usability + Customer disdain = a formula for failure.

Think I'll cancel gameday audio now....

Gameday 2008 is a HUGE disappointment. I feel the final product was produced with very little feedback from the end users about what they wanted to product to do and not to do. Foremost, from most of the other comments made about GD2008, the users would like a smaller product, as many of us are laptop users. In my case, I want something about the size of a 3X5 note card that I can move to the corner of my screen. While I applaud the effort to provide more information, much of this information, such as pitch count, was easily accessible in GD2007 with a simple mouse drag. I look forward to mlb.com working to tweak the product to bring it more in line with what the end users want.

I purchased gameday audio so I could listen to it at work, as I did last year. Now I can't hear any games due to being unable to update Flash Player, and so I am wondering how to get refunded. It's been less than a week
Donny

See my note above April 5 2208 (5:02PM)... I did just get an e-mail from MLB saying I would be refunded

This gameday is disappointing to me. I usually watch the Mets games on here but this year all I get is the white screen in the middle. Either let us select last years version or fix this one. Please give some feedback.

Silverlight won't show the game on my tv. I've got my computer configured to put all video on the tv out. Classic player works fine (although for some reason it's 4:3 this year instead of 16:9). When I right click silverlight and select "settings" nothing happens, I don't get a menu. What do I need to do to get silverlight video on my tv? Thanks

Like jcaponio posted above, I am having the exact same issues as they he/she is. I will quote their post below for reference;

"Same problem.

I was actually looking around the Orioles site for tickets, and noticed that I can't even get that to work. When I go to the team schedule at http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=bal, I try to click on the green T and nothing happens. The link says: javascript:void(openNonTIXXWindow('http://www.ticketmaster.com/cgi/outsider.plx?CAMEFROM=MLBORIOLES-SCHEDULE&GOTO=http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/15004024C9447330/&brand=none', 'home'));

Looks like the same problem to my non-trained eye. Could this be a java problem? Doesn't make any sense because it's only on MLB sites that I have these problems."

I have NO issues with any other website. Normally I can watch the games on Extra Innings but tonight I cannot so I signed up for the audio so I could at least listen. I have been on the phone with MLB.com two times today and while helpful, all they did was walk me through the troubleshooting tips that I spent an HOUR on this afternoon.

The home page on MLB.com does not load properly. I cannot buy tickets on the site because when I click on the little green T, nothing pops up. I have all updates downloaded and installed. When I try to access the audio feeds, nothing pops up.

I was told that I would be called back or e-mailed by Wednesday. Well that's great, but what about the game tonight? What about the fact that this issue has been going on for weeks now, judging by this blog?

Thanks for giving us the shaft, MLB.com. It is bad enough that MLB's blackout rules are a disgrace but when the people who live out of market sign up for the services, the only way to see/hear our teams, we get nothing. But the money sure gets taken out of the account quickly. No malfunctions there, that's for sure.

Please help. All I want to do is listen to baseball, not spend hours trying to get a freaking website to work.

Thank you.

gameday worked fine the first couple of days of the season, but for the last ten days or so, whenever i open it, the entire window loads, stays there for one or two seconds, and then crashes all of my firefox browsers, not just the one displaying gameday. anyone else seeing this behavior? i'm using firefox under ubuntu and whichever version of flash that you directed me to two weeks ago.

i like what i saw of gameday while it worked, except that it is so big that i need to scroll when using my laptop, which is a hassle.

i hope you can help resolve this because the espn app is much worse. thanks.

its now 23:56 uk time on the 12th of april and i have still got the dreaded white screen. i thought a fix was due five days ago or was i just dreaming that. being in the uk gameday is i thought the best way for me to follow the mets but so far i havent seen anything my only other option is NASN but so far they have only shown one mets game, please MLB sort the problem out

I can't get my Game Day Audio to work. I'm using the current version of Firefox. My problem is that I have no sound. I get all the info about the game with no problem, I just don't get any sound.

Any ideas?

Hey there,

well this is sort of related to gameday...the chat feature...just did some installations of the mlb hi def and new flash on windows vista....now chat doesn't work...it has worked flawlessly up until now. I get a not authorized (error 401) in fire fox. Tried IE and Chat worked but it was painfully slow...typing in characters such as "the" produced "e". So I decided to reinstall flash based on suggestions found on the internet and now when going to Chat using IE it says not authorized as wel. If I try to do a send in Chat it states you are not signed into the server. Help!

Yet another great product destroyed by "updates". Gameday, this season, is worse than worthless. It takes a full screen browser window to see it, it crashes half the time it is used, and it doesn't even work on many systems.

The ONLY legitimate excuse for using Flash for a site is a consistent interface and operation across platforms. Somehow, you have managed to remove these only two benefits. What we are left with is a bloated application that takes a patently absurd amount of CPU to display simple text on the screen, if it works at all.

Also, contrary to the idea of supporting multiple platforms, you have chosen to move to the completely untested and unreliable platform of Microsoft Silverlight. I can only imagine how much Microsoft paid you for this decision, but I would bet that it will cost you money in lost users.

On top of all of this, the actual updates Gameday have been delayed or just plain wrong more times than I can count. Homeruns attributed to the wrong player, incorrect strike counts, or a full inning of lag takes away whatever little value gameday had left.

In short, you have successfully pushed me away from your platform. I now use both ESPN and FoxSports clients instead of your own. This is disappointing because neither of them have clients that are as good as Gameday itself was 6 months ago.

Are there audio alert capabilities? If there is and I can't find them is there any specific updates for Mac users?

Thanks!

For those on Firefox / Mac with whitescreen problem, Select "Tools" from the top menu, then "Clear Private Data", then check ONLY option "Cache" and hit "Clear Private Data Now". This ensures that you do not have old versions of files on your browser memory.

We have not been able to replicate white screen problems on either IE 6 or 7 as well as Firefox on XP, XP SP2, Media Center, or Vista.

Crashes on some Firefox instances have been reported and investigation is underway. The problem is not related to Flash.

jcaponio, jason-hentz -- do you have additional popup blocker installed? try disabling those and click on the links again. problem has been reported.

I spent an hour on the phone yesterday with the Gameday people(the 13th) trying to figure out why I could not get gameday audio on my XP internet explorer 7 computer. We installed firefox didn't work, uninstalled and reinstalled silver whatever. I have flash player 9.0.28.0. We checked popup blocker (don't have) and nothing seemed to work. Am waiting for another call but I have to go to work today so I won't be home during the day. I am so frustrated. White Sox fan in Ohio and luckily it was on WGN yesterday so I was able to see the two grand slams. I would have been royally P...ed if I missed it. I have the same problem as many others seem to be explaining. When I go to click on the Live radio station option (any of them) nothing happens the cursur just sits there. HELP

I like the new Gameday and have had no technical problems.

I have a feature suggestion: Please add a way to view all the video highlights in one place. Many of them are scoring plays, which are easy to find. But, some are fielding plays, etc. You can find them by paging through the play by play, but, during the game, it would be good if you could find them more easily.

I'm having the same "white screen" issue with gameday as well as no audio. When I click on a specific game, the gameday screen comes up and I can see the scores of other games, but nothing in the center "live" tab. I've installed the latest Flash 9.0.1115.
Window XP Professional
IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2

I could listen to gameday audio for spring training but every time I try now when I click on the Listen button and select my feed it goes back to the Watch screen. What's up?

I have yet to be able to see Gameday, and am getting pretty frustrated with it. As a previous blogger pointed out so perfectly, it worked fine last year, why did you have to "update" it? I have loaded Flashplayer 9.0.115.0 with no apparent problems, and am using Internet Explorer with Windows XP. I am attempting to activate Gameday using the icon that appears above and to the right of the linescore on the Media Player page (the linescore feature doesn't always work either). I would love to be able to resume seeing all the great info that Gameday used to provide, but guess I will have to settle for graphics from ESPN or FOX, which doesn't seem right. Please get this fixed! Thank you.

I'm an IT manager and everything is up to date on my pc but i can't listen to gameday audio, at least the live games. it buffer then it plays a second worth of audio and the media player states an error. however i can listen to yesterday's games with no problem, just today's games is coming up with an error. that is all it says is error. this happened in IE7pro and the latest firefox. any body have ideas? oh i called the number that mlb post to call if you're having problems and now i have to wait for a phone in the next 48 hours. what a bunch of crap. chop chop mlb or maybe you turds should hire me so something gets done around there.

I'm right on with you joemurk! You take care of the IT and I'll swing these nimble marketing efforts around!

The people want what the people want! Deliver something otherwise and you've lost the people! (And their money!)

Change it BACK!!!!

i just read about 40 posts on this blog, above, and i feel a lot better knowing that my problems accessing gameday audio are NOT due to my computer, OS, browsers, media players, or operator error! i have been an mlb gameday subscriber since 2003, and for the first couple of years, it worked great. it has gotten steadily worse since. however, even though throughout 2005-2007 i experienced a lot of crashing and weird stuff, it DID work at least most of the time; even though i had to use different browsers, restart it several times during a game, run it on a pc instead of a mac, etc., i did make it work.

now, it does not work *AT ALL*. ZILCH. no matter what i try, and i have tried everything suggested by the so-called IT at mlb.com AND MUCH MORE. i've seen many of the problems described on this blog: white screen, getting to the point where it almost works but then says the site is "under construction, sorry" etc.,.. every time it is a different problem, but the upshot is i have not been able to hear a single game so far this season. my brother says it works fine for him. that's the most frustrating thing- it is so unpredictable and capricious!

i wonder why mlb.com keeps changing it so that it gets worse and worse (then impossible) for the customer? hmmm...follow the money. compare our $15 season subscription to the gargantuan cash payout they must be getting by making that exclusive deal with microsoft. we are just peanuts to mlb.com. personally, i would GLADLY pay more per season just to have it WORK--but apparently that is not an option.

sincerely, A Very Sad Boston Red Sox Fan

It's terrific. It's fast and it gives every bit of ongoing information you could possibly want. Thanks.

1. why does it show everyones email?

2. when a video link comes up can it load in a new window?

Gameday chat was working fine until today. (Have Intel Macbook.) Any idea what error code 401 "Not authorized" means? Is it my computer or my account? Thanks.

Noon3...I have the same problem with mb chat and the 401 error...downgraded from Flash 9.0.124 to a 9.0.115 of flash and it worked for awhile....but now getting a not-auth message again. Reinstalled everything today but not working...

Using Windows Vista with FF 2.0.0.13 (flash 9.0.115) or IE 7 (flash 9.0.124)....still have the same prob...

I left an earlier comment above but no answer...MLB IT Please Respond...

The solution to my inability to access "Gameday" was:
Click: Tools, Internet Options, Advanced. Then click and apply: Restore Advanced Settings and Reset. You then have to turnoff Internet Explorer then reaccess it. I did not have to reboot. The setup screen for Internet Explorer 7 comes up. The only action I had to take was to reset my Home Page. Gameday then worked immediately.

trose1, i tried your suggestion to see of chat would work (Gameday was working for me before)...anway, the steps listed did not solve the mlb chat not-auth 401 error.

noon3...I am pretty sure it isn't a problem with your ID in accessing mlb chat because as i have found out downgrading to a lower version of flash worked for awhile (not-auth msg stopped but has started again)...hopefully someone at mlb will answer the problem about mlb chat not-auth (401) error. The chat feature is a huge part of the experience.

ehuzarew... I totally agree with you that the chat feature is "a huge part of the experience". I am new to these chat rooms and have always stayed clear of them but I find the MLB chats to be very informative. I hope MLB answers the (401) problem soon. Thank you for the response, hopefully MLB will address this problem soon.

hey noon3...just tried chat today and same problem...this time using IE 6.0.2900.6180 and flash 9.0.28...no luck...help someone! MLB support can you acknowledge?

sorry for all the posts...but it seems that chat is experiencing a system wide problem...mlb support can you confirm this???

further to the posts above...is there a place online where customers can go to see if there are outages, issues etc...news flash for technical updates and so forth? I don't speak just for myself, there are several others who think this would be extremely helpful to EVERYONE. This would be waaaaaay better than calling customer support (who are unable to answer) and wait on the phone for 30 mins plus.

I like the changes. Making more compact is easier for navigation and the videos section also makes sense. but PLEASE bring back the mini-gameday feature. A small, simple window would be so much better for those of us watching at work. PLEASE consider the desk slaves.....

I understand you have to have ads on Game Day,
but do you have to put them over the Box Score and Line-Ups and give no way to move them. Tell me what is
the point of putting the box scores and line ups on game day if you are going to cover with ads.. Seem kind of
stupid.

What are the "Game Alert" little + signs on each of the games for? I have selected those before, but they don't seem to be doing anything. Am I supposed to get a little pop-up or something about the game I want an alert on? Has anyone else had something happen with that selected?

WOW! Thank you guys so much. You've really improved the "human factors" factor from the last release of gameday.

-- No more scrolling up and down to see the status of the game. (only if you want some pitch details, or park details.)
-- Click between games and everything shows up.
-- The key information all within the same area including score, inning, count, # of outs, men on base.
-- easy access to videos

There are still issues to think about, but this is sooooo much better than before!!

Why are there ads covering my Gameday screen with no way to either close or move them!!!!!!!!!! This has been a problem for the last 2 days.

i downloaded everything it said i needed to and the thing for firefox and it's still not working, what should i do?
